How to Add a CNAME Record in PhotoBiz
If you're using PhotoBiz Version 9 or higher and your domain’s DNS is managed through AWS Route 53, you can add or update CNAME records directly from your PhotoBiz account.
What Is a CNAME Record?
A CNAME (Canonical Name) record is a type of DNS record that points one domain name to another. It's commonly used to connect services like email marketing platforms, subdomains (like blog.yourdomain.com
), or verification tools to your main domain. You may need to add a CNAME record when connecting your domain to third-party tools or services.
IMPORTANT: DNS management is only available if your domain is using AWS (Route 53) name servers. If your domain is still on our legacy Rackspace name servers, you won’t see the DNS management option.
STEP ONE
Log in to PhotoBiz and Open Domain Settings
- Log in to your PhotoBiz account.
- From the left-hand menu, click DOMAINS.
STEP TWO
Open the DNS Zone Editor
- In the Domains panel, locate your domain.
- Click MANAGE DNS next to your domain name.
STEP THREE
Add a New DNS Record
- Click the NEW DNS RECORD button.
STEP FOUR
Enter Your CNAME Record
- For the Host, enter the subdomain you’re pointing (for example,
blog
if you're setting upblog.yourdomain.com
). - For the Value, enter the destination domain (for example,
sites.otherplatform.com
). - Make sure not to include "http://" or "https://" in the value field.
⚠️ Be careful when entering DNS records. Incorrect values can prevent connected services from working correctly. Always follow instructions from a trusted provider.
THAT'S IT
DNS Changes May Take Time
Most updates go live within a few minutes, but full propagation across the internet can take up to 48 hours.
