Overview
You can add or update an A record for your domain from your PhotoBiz account if your domain is using AWS Route 53 name servers. An A record connects a domain or subdomain to a specific IP address. This tells the internet where to send visitors when they type in your web address.
This guide explains how to open your DNS settings, create a new A record, and save the update. You may need to add an A record when connecting your domain or subdomain to a third-party service, such as another website platform, booking tool, e-commerce service, or other provider.
Before you begin, your domain must be using AWS Route 53 name servers with PhotoBiz. If your domain is still using legacy Rackspace name servers, the DNS management option will not appear in your account.
You will also need the correct host and IP address from the service you are connecting. Only enter DNS values provided by a trusted provider or by PhotoBiz Support.

An A record, also called an Address Record, is a DNS record that points a domain or subdomain to an IP address. This allows your domain to connect to the correct website, server, or third-party service.
For example, a third-party provider may ask you to create an A record so a subdomain such as shop.yourdomain.com or booking.yourdomain.com points to their platform.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click DOMAINS in the left-side menu.
This opens the Domains area, where you can manage domain settings for domains connected to your PhotoBiz account.
Locate the domain you want to update, then click MANAGE DNS next to the domain name.
This opens the DNS Zone Editor for that domain. The DNS Zone Editor allows you to manage DNS records such as A records, CNAME records, MX records, TXT records, and other supported record types.
Click the NEW DNS RECORD button.
This opens the fields where you can choose the record type and enter the DNS information provided by your third-party service or by PhotoBiz Support.
Select A Record as the record type. Then enter the host and IP address for the A record.
The host tells the DNS system which domain or subdomain the record applies to. The IP address tells the DNS system where that host should point.
Be careful when entering DNS records. Incorrect DNS values can cause your website, email, or third-party connection to stop working correctly. Always use the exact values provided by your trusted service provider.
Save the new DNS record.
After the record is saved, the update may begin working within a few minutes. In some cases, DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours to fully update across the internet.
Once propagation is complete, your domain or subdomain should point to the IP address entered in the A record.
DNS records must be entered exactly as provided by the service you are connecting. Even a small typo in the host or IP address can prevent the connection from working.
If you are connecting a root domain, such as yourdomain.com, your provider may tell you to use a blank host field or the @ symbol. Follow the instructions provided by your third-party service or contact PhotoBiz Support before saving the record.
If you are connecting a subdomain, such as shop.yourdomain.com, you usually only need to enter the subdomain portion, such as shop, in the host field.
DNS changes can affect your website, email, and other connected services. If you are not sure whether the record is correct, contact PhotoBiz Support before saving the update.
Why do I not see the MANAGE DNS option?
DNS management is only available when your domain is using AWS Route 53 name servers with PhotoBiz. If your domain is still using legacy Rackspace name servers, you will not see the DNS management option.
How long does an A record update take?
Many DNS updates begin working within a few minutes. However, full DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours depending on internet service providers, DNS caching, and the service you are connecting.
Can PhotoBiz add the A record for me?
Yes. If you are unsure what to enter, contact PhotoBiz Support with the DNS instructions from your third-party provider. Our team can review the records and help you update them correctly.
