Overview
Photo Requirements in PhotoBiz ECommerce control how many Client Gallery images a client must select when purchasing a product. They are useful for prints, albums, canvases, collages, packages, and other products that require one or more specific images.
When you set a minimum Photo Requirement, the client cannot complete checkout until the required number of images has been selected for the product. Their selected images are then associated with the product in your ECommerce order, including the image filenames and thumbnails.
This guide walks you through setting minimum and maximum Photo Requirements, explains what your clients see while ordering, and shows how the selected images appear in your completed orders.
Log into your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu to open the ECommerce Dashboard.
Mouse over SELL ONLINE at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard and click PRODUCTS from the dropdown menu.
Find the product you want to update by scrolling through your products or using the search bar. Click the product name to open its settings.
You can also set Photo Requirements for a new product. After you create the product, PhotoBiz opens the product settings where you can configure Photo Requirements and other product options.
From the product settings menu, click PHOTO REQUIREMENTS.
The Photo Requirements screen contains separate fields for MINIMUM PHOTOS and MAXIMUM PHOTOS.
Enter the number of images you want to require in MINIMUM PHOTOS and MAXIMUM PHOTOS.
MINIMUM PHOTOS determines the fewest images the client must select for the product. If the minimum has not been met, the product remains incomplete and the client cannot complete checkout.
MAXIMUM PHOTOS determines the most images the client can normally assign to the product.
For example, entering 1 in both fields requires the client to select exactly one image. Entering 10 for MINIMUM PHOTOS and 15 for MAXIMUM PHOTOS requires the client to select at least 10 images and allows them to select up to 15.
Click SAVE CHANGES when you are finished. Your Photo Requirements will apply to future Client Gallery purchases of the product.
The minimum and maximum values determine how many Client Gallery images can be assigned to a product.
When the minimum and maximum are different, the client does not have to select the maximum number of images. They must, however, meet the minimum before completing checkout.
If the shopping cart contains multiple products with Photo Requirements, the minimum requirement must be met for each applicable product before the client can check out.
If a product requires the client to choose an image from a Client Gallery, you should set Photo Requirements for that product.
Without Photo Requirements, PhotoBiz does not require the client to assign an image before purchasing the product. The client can complete checkout, and you can receive an order for the item without an image filename or thumbnail attached to it.
This can make the order difficult to fulfill because you will not know which Client Gallery image the client intended to use.
Setting a minimum Photo Requirement prevents this by requiring the client to make the necessary image selections before checkout can be completed.
While your client is selecting images for the product, PhotoBiz tracks whether the minimum Photo Requirement has been satisfied.
If the client has not selected enough images, the product is marked INCOMPLETE. The client can click ADD MORE IMAGES to continue selecting images from the Client Gallery.
The product remains incomplete until the required minimum number of images has been selected.
A client cannot complete checkout while an incomplete product remains in their Client Gallery shopping cart.
The cart displays INCOMPLETE on any product that has not met its minimum Photo Requirement. If the client attempts to check out, PhotoBiz displays the message:
You have items in your cart which are incomplete.
The client can click edit for the incomplete product and select the additional images needed to satisfy the minimum requirement. Once all applicable products are complete, the client can continue through checkout.
When a client completes an order for a product with Photo Requirements, their image selections are associated with that product in your PhotoBiz ECommerce order details.
A Selected Images section appears beneath the product. It displays a thumbnail and filename for each selected image, making it easy to identify the files you need to fulfill the order.
If Photo Requirements were not set, the client can purchase the product without assigning an image. In that situation, there will be no Selected Images section containing the filenames and thumbnails for that product.
You do not need to set Photo Requirements for every product.
Leave MINIMUM PHOTOS and MAXIMUM PHOTOS blank when a product does not require the client to select an image from their Client Gallery. The client can then purchase the product without assigning a photo.
If the product does require an image, set Photo Requirements so the necessary image selections are made before checkout.
Photo Requirements determine the normal number of images that can be assigned to a product. If you want clients to purchase additional image selections beyond the normal maximum, you can also configure Photo Add-Ons.
For example, you could create an album that requires 20 images and use Photo Add-Ons to allow the client to purchase additional album images for an extra charge per image.
Photo Add-Ons are available when the product is purchased through Client Galleries.
