How to Change the Layout of the Video Block

Overview

The Video Block in the PhotoBiz Website Builder gives you several layout options for displaying video content on your website. You can change the layout of an existing Video Block without re-uploading your video or rebuilding the block.

PhotoBiz currently includes 16 Video Block layouts, ranging from a standard video player to full-screen, banner, side-by-side, and overlay designs.

This guide walks you through how to change a Video Block layout, explains each available layout, and covers autoplay and looping behavior for videos uploaded directly to PhotoBiz.

If you need to add a Video Block first, see How To Use Video Blocks.

STEP ONE

Log into your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Click the page that contains the Video Block you want to update.

Locate the Video Block on the page.

STEP THREE

You can change the Video Block layout in two ways.

For a quick layout change, use the left and right arrows beside the current layout name in the upper-right corner of the Video Block. Click the arrows to move through the available layouts. The selected layout is applied automatically, so you do not need to click a separate Save button when using this method.

For more layout options at once, click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the Video Block. Then click CHANGE LAYOUT.

FINAL STEP

If you clicked CHANGE LAYOUT, the available layouts will appear in the right-side panel. Review the options and click the SAVE button beneath the layout you want to use.

Your updated layout will appear in the Website Builder. Click VIEW SITE at the top of the builder to review the page on your live website.

You can return to the Video Block and change its layout at any time without re-uploading your video.

Video Block Layout Options

You can choose from the following Video Block layouts. Here's a quick overview of what each one does:

Full Screen: Displays your video across the entire browser width and height. Slight cropping may occur to fill the full screen.

Banner: Displays your video as a fixed-height banner that stretches across the page.

Standard: Shows the video in its original dimensions with a standard player and play button. No cropping is applied.

No Crop Banner: Displays the full video without cropping while maintaining a banner-style layout.

Video Left: Places the video on the left side with text content on the right.

Video Right: Places the video on the right side with text content on the left.

Video Large Left: Shows a larger video on the left side with smaller text or image content on the right.

Video Large Right: Shows a larger video on the right side with smaller text or image content on the left.

Text Overlay Center Left: Places your video in the background with centered text overlay aligned to the left side.

Text Overlay Center Right: Places your video in the background with centered text overlay aligned to the right side.

Video Overlay Left: Displays the video on the left with an overlay text box or image on top of it.

Video Overlay Right: Displays the video on the right with an overlay text box or image on top of it.

Overlay Split Left: Splits the block visually, with the video and overlay content aligned to the left side.

Overlay Split Right: Splits the block visually, with the video and overlay content aligned to the right side.

Overlay Box Left: Displays the video with a boxed overlay (text or image) positioned on the left.

Overlay Box Right: Displays the video with a boxed overlay (text or image) positioned on the right.

Video Autoplay & Loop Behavior

Videos uploaded directly to PhotoBiz automatically play and loop when you use layouts designed for video backgrounds or visual motion.

The following layouts support autoplay and looping for videos uploaded directly to PhotoBiz:

  • Full Screen
  • Banner
  • No Crop Banner
  • Text Overlay Center Left
  • Text Overlay Center Right
  • Video Overlay Left
  • Video Overlay Right
  • Overlay Split Left
  • Overlay Split Right
  • Overlay Box Left
  • Overlay Box Right

The Standard layout uses manual playback and does not continuously loop. This makes it better suited for videos with dialogue, narration, tutorials, interviews, or other content visitors should choose to watch.

Autoplay and looping behavior described in this section applies specifically to videos uploaded directly to your PhotoBiz account. Embedded videos from third-party services such as YouTube or Vimeo may follow the playback rules and settings of those services.

Choosing the Right Video Block Layout

The best layout depends on the role the video plays on your page.

For a large visual introduction or homepage hero section, consider Full Screen, Banner, or No Crop Banner.

For videos that visitors need to intentionally watch or listen to, such as tutorials or interviews, Standard is usually the best choice.

For sections that combine video with descriptive text, consider Video Left, Video Right, Video Large Left, or Video Large Right.

For designs that use video as a visual background behind messaging, consider the Text Overlay, Video Overlay, Overlay Split, or Overlay Box layouts.

Helpful Notes

  • Changing a Video Block layout does not require you to upload your video again.
  • Some layouts may crop portions of a video to fit the available display area.
  • Review layouts with overlay text carefully to make sure your text remains easy to read over the video.
  • Check your page on both desktop and mobile after changing layouts. Side-by-side content, overlays, and video cropping may adjust based on the visitor's screen size.
  • You can switch between layouts at any time as you update your website design.
