How to Change the Layout of an Images Block in PhotoBiz

Overview

Images Blocks in the PhotoBiz Website Builder give you multiple ways to display photography, portfolios, and other website images. Each Images Block can use its own layout, allowing you to customize how images appear throughout your website.

Changing the layout does not remove the images you have already added to the block. It only changes how those images are arranged and displayed.

This guide shows you how to change an Images Block layout, preview other layouts, and adjust layout-specific display settings.

STEP ONE

Log into your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-hand menu to open the Website Builder.

STEP TWO

Click the page that contains the Images Block you want to update.

STEP THREE

Click the Images Block you want to update to open its settings. In the right-side menu, click LAYOUT to view all available layout options for the block.

FINAL STEP

Scroll through the available layouts and find the design you want to use. Click the SAVE button below that layout to apply it to your Images Block.

Your saved changes are automatically applied to your website. There is no separate publish step. Click VIEW SITE at the top of the Website Builder to open your live website and review the updated layout.

Quickly Preview Different Layouts

You can also cycle through layouts directly from the Images Block without opening the LAYOUT menu.

The current layout name appears near the upper-right corner of the block with left and right arrows. Click either arrow to move through the available layouts and preview how your images look with each option.

Changes made with the layout arrows are applied automatically.

Additional Layout Settings

Some Images Block layouts include additional settings that control how many images are displayed.

Depending on the layout you choose, you may see:

  • Rows – Controls the number of rows displayed.
  • Columns – Controls the number of images displayed across each row.
  • Sets – Controls the number of repeating collage groups displayed.

The settings available depend on the selected layout. Many grid and editorial layouts use Rows and Columns, while collage-style layouts may use Sets instead.

Last Item and Load More Settings

If your Images Block contains more images than the selected layout displays at once, your Last Item / Load More settings control what visitors see when they reach the end of the initial group of images.

This is especially important when you change the number of rows or columns. For example, reducing the number of rows or columns may cause visitors to reach the end of the initial display sooner.

Images Block layouts also adjust for different screen sizes, so the point where visitors encounter the Last Item or Load More behavior may be different on a phone than on a desktop computer.

See How to Adjust Load More Options in an Images Block to learn how to control what happens when visitors reach the end of the displayed images.

Image Cropping and Orientation

The layout you choose can affect how your photographs are displayed. Layouts designed around square, portrait, landscape, collage, or other fixed shapes may crop images to fit the selected design.

If maintaining more of the original image proportions is important, preview several layouts before deciding which one works best for your photography.

You should also review the finished block on both desktop and mobile devices because the available screen width can affect how the layout is displayed.

Using an Images Block With DuoBuild

Images Blocks support DuoBuild, PhotoBiz's built-in two-column layout feature.

When you place an Images Block next to another DuoBuild-compatible block, the two blocks automatically snap into a two-column layout. The Images Block has less horizontal space in this configuration, so the selected image layout may appear differently than it does when the block spans the full page width.

If the layout does not appear the way you expect, preview the page at different screen sizes or try another Images Block layout that works better within the available space.

See How To Use DuoBuild Guide for complete instructions.

Helpful Tips

  • Changing the layout does not remove images already added to the Images Block.
  • Different Images Blocks on the same page can use different layouts.
  • Preview several layouts to find the best option for the orientation and style of your photographs.
  • Rows, Columns, and Sets can affect how many images visitors initially see.
  • Review your Last Item / Load More settings if your Images Block contains more images than the selected layout displays.
  • Check your live website on both desktop and mobile after changing the layout.
