Selling Digital Product Downloads in PhotoBiz ECommerce

PhotoBiz ECommerce allows you to sell digital products directly from your website. Digital products can include PDFs, eBooks, photo presets, templates, ZIP files, and other downloadable resources.

This guide explains how to attach a digital file to a product in your ECommerce Dashboard. Once the product is saved, customers can purchase it through your store and receive access to the download after checkout.

You will also learn how to control how long the download link is available and how many times each customer can download the file.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • Access to your PhotoBiz account
  • A product created or ready to create in ECommerce
  • A digital file ready to upload or attach to the product

Supported File Types

PhotoBiz supports the following file types for digital product downloads:

  • JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF
  • TTF, OTF, WOFF2
  • PDF, PSD
  • DOC, DOCX
  • XLS, XLSX
  • ZIP
  • ICO, MP3, JS, CSS, SVG

Files can be up to 4MB with the Website Package. Files up to 50MB require the Original Files upgrade.

Helpful Tip: If you do not see the file extension you want to use, try adding your file to a ZIP file. ZIP files are a helpful option when you need to upload an unsupported file type or include multiple files in one download.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu. This will open your ECommerce Dashboard, where you can manage your products, orders, and sales settings.

STEP TWO

At the top of your ECommerce Dashboard, hover over SELL ONLINE and click PRODUCTS. This will take you to your product list, where you can create a new product or edit an existing product in your store.

STEP THREE

Click an existing product to edit it, or click NEW PRODUCT to create a new product. This opens the product editor, where you can configure the product name, pricing, description, images, and delivery settings.

If you are editing an existing product and have multiple products or categories, you can use the search bar to locate the product by name.

STEP FOUR

Click the Digital Download tab inside the product editor. In the Link To section, select File, then use the Choose A File dropdown to select the file you want customers to receive after purchase.

This connects the product to the digital file that will be delivered to your customer after checkout.

FINAL STEP

Scroll down to review your download settings. You can control the number of days the download link remains available and the maximum number of times the file can be downloaded per order.

Click SAVE CHANGES when you are finished. Once saved, the product is ready to sell, and customers will receive access to the digital download after completing checkout.

Offering Multiple Digital Product Download Options

If you want to offer different versions of a digital product at different prices—such as a basic file, extended version, or bundle—you will need to create a separate product for each download option.

Digital product downloads do not support variations or multiple file selections within a single product.

Example structure:

  • Lightroom Preset – Standard Edition

  • Lightroom Preset – Pro Edition

  • Lightroom Preset – Complete Bundle

Each product can have its own file, price, and download settings.

Additional Options or Helpful Notes

Download Settings Explained

You can control how customers access their digital download using these settings:

  • Number of Days Download is Available: Controls how long the download link remains active after purchase.

  • Maximum Downloads Per Order: Controls how many times the customer can download the file from their order.

These settings help you manage access to your digital product after the sale is complete.

Using ZIP Files

ZIP files are helpful when you want to deliver multiple files together or when your original file type is not supported.

To use a ZIP file, combine your files into one ZIP file, upload the ZIP file to your PhotoBiz account, and attach it to your product from the Digital Download tab.

This allows your customer to download multiple files from one digital product purchase.

File Size Limits

The Website Package allows files up to 4MB to be uploaded.

If you need to upload files larger than 4MB, the Original Files upgrade allows files up to 50MB to be uploaded to your account.

If your file exceeds the allowed file size, you will need to reduce the file size, use a ZIP file when appropriate, or upgrade your account.

What Customers Receive After Purchase

After a customer completes checkout, they receive access to the digital download connected to the product. The download link follows the availability and download limit settings you configure in the product editor.

If the download link expires or the customer needs the link again, you can resend the download from the order details in your ECommerce Dashboard.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

Why does my file not appear in the Choose A File dropdown?

If your file does not appear in the Choose A File dropdown, confirm that the file has been uploaded to your PhotoBiz account and that it uses a supported file type. If the file type is not supported, add the file to a ZIP file and upload the ZIP instead.

Can I sell more than one file with a single product?

Yes. The easiest way to sell multiple files with one product is to combine the files into a ZIP file. You can then attach the ZIP file to the product as the digital download.

What happens if a customer’s download link expires?

If a customer’s download link expires, you can resend the download from the order details in your ECommerce Dashboard. Resending the download gives the customer access to the file again.

The customer did not receive the download email.
Verify the order status is marked Paid. You can resend the receipt from the order screen.
