Overview
Adding video to your marketing emails is a great way to increase engagement and encourage subscribers to click through. Most email providers do not support embedded video playback inside an email, so videos usually cannot play directly inside your campaign.
Instead, PhotoBiz allows you to link an image in your email to a page where your video can be watched. This can be a page on your PhotoBiz website, a PhotoBiz Blog Post with an embedded video, YouTube, Vimeo, or another video hosting platform.
In this guide, you will learn how to add a clickable video image to your email campaign. By the end, subscribers will be able to click the image in your email and open the page where your video is available.
Before you begin, make sure you have:
Log into your PhotoBiz account and click MARKETING in the left-side menu. This will open your Email Campaign dashboard.
Click NEW CAMPAIGN to create a new email campaign, or click the name of an existing campaign to edit it. This will open the campaign builder.
If you have multiple campaigns or categories, you can use the search bar to quickly locate the campaign you want to edit.
Add an Images Block to your email layout. Use the right-side panel to upload the thumbnail, screenshot, or graphic you want subscribers to click.
A thumbnail with a play button graphic can help subscribers quickly understand that the image links to a video.
Click the image you added and enter the Link URL for the page where your video can be watched. This can be a PhotoBiz website page, a PhotoBiz Blog Post with an embedded video, YouTube, Vimeo, or another video hosting platform.
Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your updates.
Once saved, your image will act as a clickable video link. When subscribers click the image in your email, they will be taken directly to the page where your video is available.
Where to Link Your Video
You can link your email image to any page where the video can be watched, including:
Linking to a PhotoBiz website page or Blog Post is a good option when you want subscribers to visit your website instead of leaving for another platform.
Tips for Better Engagement
Use a clear, high-quality image that represents your video. A thumbnail from the video often works well.
You can also add a play button graphic to the image before uploading it. This helps subscribers understand that clicking the image will open a video.
For best results, place the video image near the top of your email so it is easy to see. Keep your video focused and relevant to the message of your campaign.
Can I embed a video directly inside my marketing email?
Most email providers do not support embedded video playback inside emails. For the most reliable experience, use an image that links to the page where your video can be watched.
Can I link to a video on my PhotoBiz website?
Yes. You can link the image in your email campaign to a PhotoBiz website page or PhotoBiz Blog Post that contains your embedded video.
Can I link to YouTube or Vimeo?
Yes. You can link your image to YouTube, Vimeo, or another video hosting platform as long as you have the direct URL where the video can be viewed.
Why should I use an image instead of a text link?
An image is more visual and can help increase clicks. A thumbnail with a play button can make it clear that subscribers are clicking to watch a video.
