Overview
You can manually unsubscribe a contact from your PhotoBiz email list inside your Contacts area. This is helpful if someone contacts you directly and asks to stop receiving marketing emails, automations, or email invitations.
All PhotoBiz marketing emails include an unsubscribe link, so recipients can unsubscribe themselves from any marketing email they receive. This is usually the easiest option because the recipient can manage their own email preference directly.
You can also update the contact’s unsubscribe preference manually inside your account. This keeps the contact record in your Contacts area while preventing future marketing emails from being sent to that email address.
Deleting a contact is not recommended for a standard unsubscribe request because it may remove the contact and associated records connected to that email address.
Before you manually unsubscribe a contact, make sure you have the email address the contact wants unsubscribed.
You should also confirm that the request came from the contact or someone authorized to manage that email preference.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click CONTACTS in the left-side menu.
This opens your Contacts area, where you can search for and manage contact records.
Use the search bar to look up the email address of the contact you want to unsubscribe.
Searching by email address is usually the best option because it helps you find the correct contact record, especially if you have multiple contacts with similar names.
Click the contact’s name to open their contact details.
This opens the contact record, where you can review their contact information and email preference status.
Locate the unsubscribe preference in the contact record, then click the pencil icon next to the unsubscribe setting.
This opens the email preference setting so you can manually update whether the contact receives marketing emails from you.
From the dropdown menu, change the contact’s email preference to No.
This updates the contact so they will not receive marketing emails from you. This can include email marketing campaigns, automations, and email invitations sent through your PhotoBiz account.
Click Save to confirm your changes.
Once saved, the contact will be added to your unsubscribe list. The contact record will remain in your Contacts area, and the unsubscribe date will be listed on the contact’s record.
Recipients Can Unsubscribe Themselves
Every PhotoBiz marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. This allows recipients to unsubscribe themselves without you manually editing their contact record.
To unsubscribe, the recipient can open one of your marketing emails and click the unsubscribe link. They can then update their email preferences from that page.
This is often the easiest option because the recipient controls their own email preference directly.
Editing the Contact Is Recommended
For most unsubscribe requests, you should edit the contact’s unsubscribe preference instead of deleting the contact.
Editing the contact allows you to:
Keep the contact record in your account
Preserve related contact history when available
Stop future marketing emails from being sent
Avoid removing associated records tied to that email address
This is the best option when someone only wants to stop receiving marketing emails but does not need their full contact record removed from your account.
Deleting a Contact
You can delete a contact from your Contacts area, but this is not recommended for standard unsubscribe requests.
Deleting a contact may remove the contact and associated records connected to that email address. Only delete a contact if you are sure you no longer need the contact record or any related history in your account.
For most unsubscribe requests, update the contact’s unsubscribe preference instead.
What Happens After a Contact Is Unsubscribed
After the contact is unsubscribed, they should no longer receive:
Email marketing campaigns
Email automations
Email invitations sent through your marketing tools
The contact can still remain saved in your Contacts area for recordkeeping and account management.
If the Contact Wants to Resubscribe Later
If the contact later asks to receive emails from you again, you can update their unsubscribe preference inside their contact record.
You should only resubscribe a contact if they clearly give you permission to receive marketing emails again. For best results, keep a record of their request, such as an email, form submission, or written message.
A contact may also be able to resubscribe themselves from a previous marketing email. To do this, they can open a previous email campaign from the same email address, click the unsubscribe link, and update their preference by choosing:
My email preferences: I want to continue receiving emails
Should I delete a contact to unsubscribe them?
No. Deleting the contact is usually not the best option. If the person only wants to stop receiving marketing emails, update their unsubscribe preference instead.
Can contacts unsubscribe themselves?
Yes. Every PhotoBiz marketing email includes an unsubscribe link that allows recipients to update their own email preference.
Will unsubscribing a contact delete their record?
No. Manually updating the unsubscribe preference keeps the contact record in your account while preventing future marketing emails from being sent to that email address.
Can I resubscribe the contact later?
Yes. You can update the contact’s unsubscribe preference later if they clearly ask to receive marketing emails from you again.
Why is the contact not receiving emails?
Check the contact record first to confirm whether they are unsubscribed. If they are not unsubscribed, the issue may be related to their email address, spam folder, mailbox settings, or email delivery.
