Overview
PhotoBiz Client Galleries includes Image Protection and watermark settings that help discourage unauthorized copying and sharing while clients review their photos. A visible watermark can display your logo, business name, or copyright information over your gallery images. This guide explains how to choose a watermark design, adjust its visibility, and review other settings that support image protection. These recommendations can help deter unauthorized use, but no watermark or online protection method can completely prevent screenshots or guarantee protection against AI watermark removal.
You can use the included copyright watermark or upload a custom watermark featuring your logo, business name, or copyright information. A custom watermark helps identify your photography business while clients browse their images.
For greater control over placement, create a transparent PNG that is 3000 pixels wide by 1730 pixels tall. These dimensions refer to the watermark canvas, not a required size for your gallery photos.
When creating your watermark, consider these design choices:
Bold lettering or thicker elements: Choose a design that remains clearly visible over your photographs. Thin lettering or delicate script may be difficult to see on some backgrounds.
Centered placement: Place your logo or copyright information across the central area of the image.
Tiled placement: Repeat your logo or text across the watermark canvas to display your branding in multiple areas.
Coverage: Avoid relying only on a small watermark near an edge, where it may be cropped out.
Watermark removal results vary depending on the design, the photograph, and the tool used. Treat these choices as ways to improve visibility and discourage copying, rather than guarantees against removal.
Choose a visibility level that keeps your watermark noticeable without making it difficult for clients to review their photos.
An opacity of 50% to 80% can be a starting point. Increase it if your design is difficult to see, then preview the result on several images. A higher opacity makes the watermark more prominent, but it does not guarantee protection against AI removal.
You can display the watermark on enlarged images only or on both enlarged images and gallery thumbnails. Choose both locations if you want your watermark visible throughout those views.

Image Protection and watermarks are separate features that you can use together.
Image Protection adds safeguards that help discourage unauthorized saving and copying. Your selected protection level also affects how clients view their photos. For example, High protection keeps part of each image blurred, and clients can click or tap the blurred area to move it to the opposite side.
Review the options in How to Control Image Protection in Client Galleries and choose the viewing experience that works best for your business.
If you do not use your gallery uploads for high-resolution digital delivery or printing, consider uploading lower-resolution copies. This limits the image detail available in an unauthorized copy.
Before reducing resolution, review how you use the images for digital products, downloads, prints, or Original Files. Lower-resolution uploads may not meet those needs. Keep your full-resolution originals separately.
Lower resolution is an additional deterrent, not a substitute for watermarking or reviewing download permissions.
Clients see your watermark in the gallery views you selected when watermarking is enabled for the event. Your Image Protection setting may also affect how images appear during viewing.
Client Galleries watermarks are not added to files clients download. Review your event download settings and digital product options separately to control which files clients can receive.
Before sharing a gallery, preview it as a visitor. Check light and dark photographs, portrait and landscape images, and images with different levels of detail. Confirm that your watermark is visible and that clients can still review their photos comfortably.
