How to Create a Dollar Discount Coupon in PhotoBiz ECommerce

Overview

PhotoBiz ECommerce lets you create dollar-based coupon codes for an entire order, a single item, a group of items, or free shipping. You can control when the coupon is available, which items qualify, and how much of a dollar discount your client receives.

Dollar Discount coupons can be used with eligible purchases through ECommerce and Client Galleries checkout. This guide walks you through creating each type of Dollar Discount coupon and explains the settings available for each option.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu. This opens the ECommerce Dashboard, where you can manage products, services, orders, payment settings, coupons, and other ECommerce features.

STEP TWO

Mouse over PAYMENT at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, then click COUPONS from the drop-down menu. This opens the Coupons area where you can create and manage coupon codes.

STEP THREE

Click NEW COUPON. PhotoBiz displays the available coupon categories and coupon types.

STEP FOUR

Under Dollar Discounts, click $ Off Total Order, $ Off Single Item, $ Off Group of Items, or Free Shipping, depending on the promotion you want to create. Click CONTINUE at the bottom of the screen.

FINAL STEP

Complete the settings for the Dollar Discount coupon you selected using the appropriate section below. Each coupon includes different options for determining which orders, items, quantities, or shipping methods qualify.

After you complete the required settings and any applicable item, quantity, or shipping selections, click CREATE COUPON. Your coupon is then created using the Discount Code, Begin Date, Expiration Date, and any other requirements you configured.

Dollar Discount Coupon Types

PhotoBiz offers four Dollar Discount coupon options:

  • $ Off Total Order — Subtracts a fixed dollar amount from a qualifying order.
  • $ Off Single Item — Subtracts a fixed dollar amount from one qualifying item.
  • $ Off Group of Items — Subtracts a fixed dollar amount from a qualifying group of items.
  • Free Shipping — Removes qualifying shipping charges based on the shipping methods you choose.

$ Off Total Order

Use $ Off Total Order when you want to subtract a fixed dollar amount from an entire qualifying order.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required. Enter the coupon code your client will use at checkout.
  • Description — Optional. Add an internal description to help identify the promotion.
  • Begin Date — Required. Set the date the coupon becomes available.
  • Expiration Date — Required. Set the date the coupon expires.
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional. Set a maximum number of uses for the coupon.
  • Discount Amount — Required. Enter the dollar amount of the discount.
  • Min Order Price — Optional. Set a minimum qualifying order amount.
  • Max Order Price — Optional. Set a maximum qualifying order amount.

When your settings are complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a coupon for $25 off qualifying orders of $200 or more by entering $25 as the Discount Amount and $200 as the Min Order Price.

$ Off Single Item

Use $ Off Single Item when you want to subtract a fixed dollar amount from one qualifying item.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required
  • Description — Optional
  • Begin Date — Required
  • Expiration Date — Required
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional
  • Discount Amount — Required

Enter the Discount Amount in dollars, then click Next Choose Items.

Under Select the items that will be discounted, choose one of the following:

  • Any Item — Allows any eligible item to qualify.
  • Any Item in a Specific Category — Limits the coupon to eligible items within the category you choose.
  • Specific Items — Limits the coupon to individual items you select.

When your item selection is complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a coupon that gives clients $10 off one qualifying print or product.

$ Off Group of Items

Use $ Off Group of Items when you want to subtract a fixed dollar amount from a qualifying group of items.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required
  • Description — Optional
  • Begin Date — Required
  • Expiration Date — Required
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional
  • Discount Amount — Required

Enter the Discount Amount in dollars, then click Next Choose Items.

Under Select the items that will be discounted, choose one of the following:

  • Any Item
  • Any Item in a Specific Category
  • Specific Items

You must also enter the Minimum Quantity to Apply Discount to. This determines the minimum number of qualifying items required before the discount applies.

When your settings are complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a coupon that gives clients $20 off when they purchase at least five qualifying prints.

Free Shipping

Use Free Shipping when you want to remove qualifying shipping charges from an order.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required
  • Description — Optional
  • Begin Date — Required
  • Expiration Date — Required
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional
  • Min Order Price — Optional
  • Max Order Price — Optional

Free Shipping coupons do not include a Discount Amount because the coupon applies to the shipping charge rather than subtracting a dollar amount from the order.

Click Next Choose Item after entering the coupon settings.

Under Please select the shipping options to be included in this coupon, choose:

  • All — Includes all available shipping methods.
  • Specific Shipping Options — Lets you choose which shipping methods qualify for free shipping.

Using Specific Shipping Options is helpful when you want to offer free standard shipping without including higher-cost methods such as express or international shipping.

When your shipping selections are complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a free shipping promotion that applies only to standard shipping while excluding express or international shipping options.

Eligible Items

Eligible item types for Dollar Discount Coupons can include:

  • Products
  • Services
  • Scheduler
  • Packages
  • Prints
  • Digital Images

Coupons can be redeemed through:

  • ECommerce checkout
  • Client Galleries checkout

Coupons cannot be applied to:

  • Forms
  • Invoices

Choosing the Right Dollar Discount Coupon

Choose $ Off Total Order when you want to subtract a fixed amount from the entire qualifying purchase, such as $25 off an order of $200 or more. This option also includes Min Order Price and Max Order Price settings.

Choose $ Off Single Item when you want one qualifying product, service, print, or other eligible item to receive a fixed dollar discount.

Choose $ Off Group of Items when multiple qualifying items are required for the promotion and you want to set a minimum quantity.

Choose Free Shipping when you want to remove qualifying shipping charges and control which shipping methods are included in the promotion.

What Your Client Sees

When your client reaches an eligible ECommerce or Client Galleries checkout, they can enter the coupon code you created.

If the order meets the coupon requirements, the applicable dollar discount or free shipping promotion is applied to the qualifying purchase.

Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.

The Coupon field can have the coupon entered and then applied to the total.

Once the coupon has been applied, the discount will display on the page and the total will update.

Helpful Notes

  • Discount Code, Begin Date, and Expiration Date are required for all Dollar Discount coupons.
  • Description and Max Number of Uses are optional.
  • $ Off Total Order, $ Off Single Item, and $ Off Group of Items require a Discount Amount.
  • Free Shipping does not include a Discount Amount field.
  • $ Off Total Order and Free Shipping include optional Min Order Price and Max Order Price settings.
  • $ Off Single Item and $ Off Group of Items let you control which items qualify.
  • $ Off Group of Items includes a required Minimum Quantity to Apply Discount to setting.
  • Free Shipping coupons can apply to all available shipping methods or only the specific shipping methods you choose.
  • Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.
  • Coupons cannot be used with Forms or Invoices.
  • If you want your discount to apply automatically without requiring a coupon code, use a Sale Campaign.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why isn't my Dollar Discount coupon working?

Check the Begin Date, Expiration Date, qualifying items, usage limit, and any order-price or quantity requirements you configured. The client's order must meet the coupon requirements before the discount can apply.

What is the difference between $ Off Single Item and $ Off Group of Items?

$ Off Single Item applies a fixed dollar discount to one qualifying item. $ Off Group of Items is designed for multiple qualifying items and includes a required Minimum Quantity to Apply Discount to setting.

Can I create a Dollar Discount coupon for one specific product or service?

Yes. Choose an item-based Dollar Discount coupon and select Specific Items during the item-selection process.

Can I apply a Dollar Discount coupon to an entire category?

Yes. Choose Any Item in a Specific Category, then select the appropriate qualifying category.

Can I require a minimum order amount?

Yes, when using $ Off Total Order or Free Shipping. Enter the qualifying amount in the Min Order Price field.

Can I offer free shipping without including express or international shipping?

Yes. Choose Specific Shipping Options when setting up your Free Shipping coupon, then include only the shipping methods you want the promotion to cover.

Does a Free Shipping coupon need a Discount Amount?

No. Free Shipping coupons do not include a Discount Amount field.

Can clients use more than one coupon on the same order?

No. Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.

Can Dollar Discount coupons be used with Forms or Invoices?

No. Coupons cannot be applied to Form payments or Invoices.
