How to Create a Percentage Discount Coupon in PhotoBiz ECommerce

Overview

PhotoBiz ECommerce lets you create percentage coupon codes for an entire order, a single item, or a group of items. You can control when the coupon is available, which items qualify, and how much of a percentage discount your client receives.

Percentage coupons can be used with eligible purchases through ECommerce and Client Galleries checkout. This guide walks you through creating each type of Percentage Discount coupon and explains the settings available for each option.

If you want a discount to apply automatically without requiring your client to enter a coupon code, see How to Set Up a Sale Campaign.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu. This opens the ECommerce Dashboard, where you can manage products, services, orders, payment settings, coupons, and other ECommerce features.

STEP TWO

Mouse over PAYMENT at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, then click COUPONS from the drop-down menu. This opens the Coupons area where you can create and manage coupon codes.

STEP THREE

Click NEW COUPON. PhotoBiz displays the available coupon categories and coupon types.

STEP FOUR

Under Percentage Discounts, click % Off Total Order, % Off Single Item, or % Off Group of Items, depending on the promotion you want to create. Click CONTINUE at the bottom of the screen.

FINAL STEP

Complete the settings for the Percentage Discount coupon you selected using the appropriate section below. Each percentage coupon includes different options for determining which orders or items qualify.

After you complete the required settings and any applicable item or quantity selections, click CREATE COUPON. Your coupon is then created using the Discount Code, Begin Date, Expiration Date, Discount Amount, and any other requirements you configured.

Percentage Discount Coupon Types

PhotoBiz offers three Percentage Discount coupon options:

  • % Off Total Order — Applies a percentage discount to a qualifying order.
  • % Off Single Item — Applies a percentage discount to one qualifying item.
  • % Off Group of Items — Applies a percentage discount to a qualifying group of items.

Important: How to Enter a Percentage

Enter the Discount Amount as a whole number.

For example:

  • Enter 7 for a 7% discount.
  • Enter 15 for a 15% discount.
  • Do not enter .07 for 7%.

% Off Total Order

Use % Off Total Order when you want to apply a percentage discount to an entire qualifying order.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required. Enter the coupon code your client will use at checkout.
  • Description — Optional. Add an internal description to help you identify the promotion.
  • Begin Date — Required. Set the date the coupon becomes available.
  • Expiration Date — Required. Set the date the coupon expires.
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional. Set a maximum number of uses for the coupon.
  • Discount Amount — Required. Enter the percentage as a whole number.
  • Min Order Price — Optional. Set a minimum qualifying order amount.
  • Max Order Price — Optional. Set a maximum qualifying order amount.

When your settings are complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a coupon for 20% off qualifying orders of $200 or more by entering 20 as the Discount Amount and $200 as the Min Order Price.

% Off Single Item

Use % Off Single Item when you want the percentage discount to apply to one qualifying item.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required
  • Description — Optional
  • Begin Date — Required
  • Expiration Date — Required
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional
  • Discount Amount — Required

Click Next Choose Item after entering the coupon settings.

Under Select the items that will be discounted, choose one of the following:

  • Any Item — Allows any eligible item to qualify.
  • Any Item in a Specific Category — Select the Item Type in the first dropdown menu and the Item Category in the second dropdown menu.
  • Specific Items — Select the Item Type in the first dropdown menu, the Category in the second dropdown menu, and the Items in the third dropdown menu.

You can narrow the coupon to specific categories or individual items or use the available All options when appropriate.

When your item selection is complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a coupon that gives clients 15% off one qualifying print.

% Off Group of Items

Use % Off Group of Items when you want to apply the percentage discount to multiple qualifying items.

Configure the following settings:

  • Discount Code — Required
  • Description — Optional
  • Begin Date — Required
  • Expiration Date — Required
  • Max Number of Uses — Optional
  • Discount Amount — Required

Click Next Choose Items after entering the coupon settings.

Under Select the items that will be discounted, choose:

  • Any Item
  • Any Item in a Specific Category
  • Specific Items

For Any Item in a Specific Category, select the Item Type in the first dropdown menu and the Item Category in the second.

For Specific Items, select the Item Type in the first dropdown menu, Category in the second dropdown menu, and Items in the third dropdown menu. You can drill down to specific categories and items or use the available All options.

You can also configure:

  • Minimum Quantity to Apply Discount to — Enter the minimum number of qualifying items required.
  • Maximum Quantity to Apply Discount to — Enter the maximum number of qualifying items the discount should apply to.

When your settings are complete, click CREATE COUPON.

Example: You could create a promotion that gives clients 10% off when they purchase at least five qualifying prints.

Eligible Items

Percentage Discount coupons can be configured for eligible items including:

  • Products
  • Services
  • Scheduler
  • Packages
  • Prints
  • Digital Images

Coupons can be redeemed through:

  • ECommerce checkout
  • Client Galleries checkout

Coupons cannot be applied to:

  • Forms
  • Invoices

Choosing the Right Percentage Coupon

Choose % Off Total Order for promotions that discount the entire qualifying purchase, such as 20% off orders of $200 or more. This option also includes Min Order Price and Max Order Price settings.

Choose % Off Single Item when you want one qualifying product, service, print, or other eligible item to receive the percentage discount.

Choose % Off Group of Items when the promotion applies to multiple qualifying items and you want to control the minimum or maximum quantity included in the discount.

What Your Client Sees

When your client reaches an eligible ECommerce or Client Galleries checkout, they can enter the coupon code you created.

If the order meets the coupon requirements, the percentage discount is applied to the qualifying order or items.

Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.

Client Gallery Coupon Check Out

The Coupon field can have the coupon entered and then applied to the total.

Client Gallery Coupon Applied

Once the coupon has been applied, the discount will display on the page and the total will update.

Helpful Notes

  • Discount Code, Begin Date, Expiration Date, and Discount Amount are required for all Percentage Discount coupons.

  • % Off Group of Items also includes minimum and maximum quantity settings.
  • Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.
