How to Show or Hide File Names in Client Galleries

Overview

PhotoBiz Client Galleries let you share private, password-protected galleries with your clients. You can control how images display in each event, including whether file names are visible to clients. This guide explains how to turn file names on or off for a Client Galleries event.

When file names are enabled, clients can see the image file name while viewing the gallery. When file names are hidden, the gallery displays the images without showing the file names.

STEP ONE

Log into your PhotoBiz account. From the left-side menu, click Client Galleries to open your Client Galleries Dashboard.

STEP TWO

At the top of your Client Galleries dashboard, click Events. This opens the list of events.

STEP THREE

Choose the event you want to edit by clicking on its Event Name, or create a new one in your Client Galleries control panel. If you have multiple events, you can search for an existing event by name in the search bar.

STEP FOUR

Inside the event, click the gear icon in the top right corner. This opens the settings panel for that event.

FINAL STEP

Scroll to the bottom of the settings panel until you see Display File Names. Select Yes if you want file names to show in the gallery. Select No if you want to hide file names from clients.

After you choose the setting, save your changes. The event will now display image file names based on your selection.

What Your Clients Will See

When Display File Names is set to Yes, clients can see image file names in the gallery. File names may appear in these areas in the screen shots below

When Display File Names is set to No, clients can view the images without seeing the file names in these areas.

Grid View Example

File names appear when clients hover over each image.

Large View Example

File names display in the toolbar beneath each image.

Additional Options or Helpful Notes

Showing file names can be helpful when clients need to reference specific images for ordering, proofing, or communicating revisions.

Hiding file names can create a cleaner gallery experience when file names are not needed or when you prefer clients to focus only on the images.

This setting is managed per event, so you can show file names in one Client Galleries event and hide them in another.

Troubleshooting or FAQs

Why do I not see file names in the gallery?

Check the event settings and make sure Display File Names is set to Yes. You may also need to view the gallery as a client to confirm how the setting appears outside the control panel.

Can I show file names for one event and hide them for another?

Yes. The Display File Names setting is controlled inside each event’s settings.

Where do file names appear for clients?

When enabled, file names appear when clients hover over images in Grid View. They also display in the toolbar beneath each image in Large View.
