How to Install Google Tag Manager on Your PhotoBiz Website

Overview

Google Tag Manager (GTM) allows you to manage tracking scripts and marketing tags for your website from one central location. Many photographers use GTM to install tools like Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Google Ads Conversion Tracking, TikTok Pixel, and other marketing platforms without manually updating website code each time.

In this guide, you will learn how to install Google Tag Manager on your PhotoBiz website using the Website Tracking settings. Once installed, you can manage future tracking tags directly inside your Google Tag Manager account.

Need to add tracking code to only one page instead of your entire website? See:
How to Add Tracking Codes to Individual PhotoBiz Website Pages

Important Note

PhotoBiz is not affiliated with Google. We can help you install the Google Tag Manager container code on your website, but questions related to configuring tags, triggers, analytics reporting, or advertising platforms should be directed to Google Tag Manager Help.

STEP ONE

Log into your Google Tag Manager account and create or open your container for your website.

Google Tag Manager will provide you with two pieces of tracking code:

  • A Head tracking code
  • A Body tracking code

Copy both code snippets because you will paste them into your PhotoBiz website in the next steps.

STEP TWO

Log into your PhotoBiz account and open the Website Builder from the left-hand menu.

STEP THREE

Click on Tracking at the top-center of your website control panel.

STEP FOUR

Paste the first Google Tag Manager code snippet into the Head section of the tracking settings.

Then paste the second Google Tag Manager code snippet into the Body section of the tracking settings.

If you already have other tracking code installed, you can place the Google Tag Manager code above or below the existing code.

FINAL STEP

Click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen to apply the update to your website.

Return to your Google Tag Manager account and use Preview Mode or Google Tag Assistant to verify your container is installed correctly.

Once connected, you can begin managing tracking tools such as:

  • Google Analytics
  • Meta Pixel
  • Google Ads Conversion Tracking
  • TikTok Pixel
  • Pinterest Tag

Future tracking updates can usually be managed directly inside Google Tag Manager without needing to edit your PhotoBiz website code again.

Additional Options and Helpful Notes

Page-Level Tracking

PhotoBiz also includes Advanced Tracking settings on individual website pages.

This is useful when:

  • Running ads to a specific landing page
  • Tracking conversions on thank-you pages
  • Installing campaign-specific scripts
  • Testing temporary marketing tools

Tracking added to an individual page only applies to that specific page.

Important Tracking Recommendation

If you install Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other tracking tools through Google Tag Manager, you should not also install those same tracking codes separately in the main Website Tracking area.

Installing duplicate tracking codes can cause inaccurate reporting and duplicate event tracking.
