Overview
If you're having trouble uploading images to your PhotoBiz account, most issues can be resolved with a few simple troubleshooting steps. Common causes include outdated browser software, stored browser data, internet connection problems, unsupported file formats, oversized images, and file naming issues.
This guide walks you through the most common solutions based on issues encountered by PhotoBiz Support. Follow the steps in order, starting with the solutions that most frequently resolve image upload problems.
By the end, you'll know how to troubleshoot failed uploads and what information to provide our Support team if you need additional assistance.
Try these common fixes in order. If your images still won't upload, follow the detailed instructions below.
Update Your System and Web Browser
Outdated operating systems and web browsers can interfere with image uploads and other PhotoBiz control panel features.
Make sure your computer's operating system and web browser are updated to the latest versions supported by your device.
After installing any updates, completely close and reopen your browser before attempting to upload your images again.
For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome when managing your PhotoBiz account.
If you need assistance checking for updates, use the appropriate guide below:
If your browser is already updated and the images still won't upload, continue to Step Two.
Clear Your Browser Cache and Cookies
Your browser stores temporary files, cookies, and website data to help websites load faster. Over time, this stored information can become outdated and interfere with image uploads in your PhotoBiz account.
Clearing your browser's stored data allows it to load a fresh version of the PhotoBiz control panel.
Important for Safari Users
Outdated browser cache data is the most common reason Safari users experience image upload problems in PhotoBiz.
If Safari displays a Failed To Reconnect error while uploading images, clearing your Safari browsing history and website data, then restarting Safari, often resolves the issue.
To clear your browser data, open your browser settings and locate the option to clear browsing history, cookies, cached files, or website data. Select All Time, or the equivalent option, to remove older stored data.
After clearing your browser data, completely close all browser windows and reopen your browser.
You will need to log back into your PhotoBiz account after clearing your cookies and restarting your browser. You may also need to complete two-factor authentication if it is enabled on your account.
Once logged in, try uploading your images again.
Use the appropriate guide below for instructions:
Helpful Note: Clearing cookies and website data may sign you out of other websites. You do not need to delete saved passwords, passkeys, payment information, or autofill information to troubleshoot PhotoBiz uploads.
For additional browser troubleshooting, see How to Fix PhotoBiz Control Panel Display Problems.
Check Your Internet Connection
A slow or unstable internet connection can interrupt image uploads, especially when uploading large files or multiple images at once.
Test your internet connection using Speedtest.net.
Pay particular attention to your upload speed, which measures how quickly your connection can send files from your computer to PhotoBiz.
If your connection is slow or unstable, try restarting your router or modem and testing your connection again.
If you're uploading a large number of images, try uploading a smaller group at a time. You can also test uploading a single image to see whether the problem continues.
Keep your browser and upload window open until your images have finished uploading. Closing the browser or navigating away during an upload can interrupt the transfer.
If your connection appears stable but your images still won't upload, continue to Step Four.
Use the Correct Image Format
PhotoBiz supports JPG and PNG image files for standard image uploads to your website and Client Galleries.
If you're trying to upload an image in another format, such as HEIC, TIFF, or RAW, the file may not be compatible with the image uploader.
Check your image's file format before uploading. If necessary, open the image in an editing program such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or another image editor and export a copy as a JPG or PNG.
Important: Changing a file's extension from one format to another does not convert the actual image. You must export or convert the file into the correct format.
For more information about supported formats, see What File Types Can I Upload to PhotoBiz?.
Check Your Image File Size and Optimize If Needed
Large image files can cause uploads to take longer or fail if they exceed your account's upload limits.
PhotoBiz has the following file size limits:
Standard Website Package: Up to 4 MB per file.
Original Files Upgrade: Up to 50 MB per file.
If your image exceeds your account's upload limit, you'll need to reduce its file size before uploading or use the Original Files Upgrade for larger supported files.
Do I Need to Resize My Images Before Uploading?
In most cases, you do not need to resize your photographs manually before uploading them to PhotoBiz, provided they meet your account's file size requirements.
PhotoBiz automatically optimizes images uploaded for website display, scaling them to fit within a maximum width of 3000 pixels and a maximum height of 1730 pixels while maintaining their original proportions.
If you need to reduce your images before uploading, you can use photo editing software such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop to resize and export multiple images at once.
For detailed instructions, see:
Need to Upload Larger Original Files?
If you need to upload full-resolution images larger than 4 MB, the Original Files Upgrade increases your maximum upload size to 50 MB per file.
This is particularly useful when delivering high-resolution digital downloads through Client Galleries.
Learn more in How to Add the Original Files Upgrade to Your PhotoBiz Account.
Check Your Image File Names
File names that are unusually long or contain certain special characters can sometimes cause upload problems.
For best results, use short, simple file names with letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores.
For example, use wedding-portrait-001.jpg instead of a file name containing unusual symbols or special characters.
If you're uploading multiple images, consider naming your files in a numbered sequence to help keep them organized.
You can rename files individually or use Adobe Bridge, Lightroom, or another file management program to rename multiple images at once.
For instructions, see How to Batch Rename Images Using Adobe Bridge.
After checking your file names, try uploading your images again.
If your images upload successfully, you're all set! If the problem continues, review the additional troubleshooting information below.
Why Are My Images Not Uploading at All?
Start by updating your browser and clearing your browser cache and cookies. These are among the most common solutions to PhotoBiz image upload problems.
If the issue continues, try uploading one small JPG image that meets your account's file size requirements.
If the test image uploads successfully, the problem may involve the format, size, or file name of the original images.
If the test image also fails, try using another updated browser to determine whether the problem is specific to your current browser.
Why Do Some Images Upload While Others Fail?
If some images upload successfully but others do not, the issue may be related to specific files rather than your browser or internet connection.
Check the file size, format, and file name of an image that failed. Try uploading that image individually.
If it still won't upload, open the original image in your editing software, export a new JPG copy, and try uploading the new file.
Why Does My Upload Stop or Get Stuck?
An interrupted or unstable internet connection can cause uploads to stop before they finish.
Check your connection, keep the upload window open, and try uploading a smaller number of images at a time.
If the issue continues, return to Steps One and Two to check your browser software and stored browser data.
Why Does Safari Display a "Failed To Reconnect" Error?
This error is commonly related to outdated browser cache data in Safari.
Clear your Safari browsing history and website data, completely close Safari, and reopen it.
Log back into your PhotoBiz account and try uploading again.
If Safari continues displaying the error, try using the latest version of Google Chrome.
Can I Upload Images Larger Than 4 MB?
Yes. The standard PhotoBiz Website Package supports files up to 4 MB each.
With the Original Files Upgrade, you can upload supported files up to 50 MB each.
If you do not need to preserve the full-resolution file, you can also export a smaller JPG copy that meets your account's upload limit.
What If I've Reached My Account's File Storage Limit?
Your PhotoBiz account has a file storage allowance. If you've reached your account's limit, you may be unable to upload additional images until more storage becomes available.
You can review your available storage and consider removing files you no longer need or adding additional storage to your account.
For more information, see How to Check Your PhotoBiz File Storage.
Why Are My Images Uploading in the Wrong Order?
File naming and the order in which images are added can affect how your images appear in galleries.
If your images upload successfully but display in an unexpected order, see Why Are My Images Not in the Correct Order?.
