Overview
The PhotoBiz Link Picker makes it easy to connect buttons, images, text, and other supported elements to destinations within your account or elsewhere online.
You can link visitors to website pages, forms, campaigns, files, videos, pop-ups, products, services, Scheduler services, Client Gallery events, external websites, and more. The Link Picker appears under the LINK TO setting wherever linking is supported.
This guide explains where to find the Link Picker, how to configure a link, and what each destination option does.
The Link Picker appears throughout PhotoBiz wherever supported content can be connected to another destination.
Website Builder
You may encounter the LINK TO setting when working with:
For blocks that include Last Item settings, select YES to display the last item. Select STANDARD LINK to open the Link Picker and choose its destination.
For complete setup instructions, see How to Enable the Last Item Link.
Blog Posts
The Link Picker is available for:
Marketing
The Link Picker is available for:
The exact location of LINK TO depends on the block or element you are editing. Available choices may vary depending on the element, the tools included with your account, and the content you have created.
Some destinations must exist before they can be selected. For example, you must create a form before using FORM, upload a document before using FILE, or create a Scheduler service before using SCHEDULER SERVICE.
Selecting a destination changes only the button, image, or item you are currently editing. Other elements linked to the same destination are not automatically updated.
The Link Picker does not bypass passwords, access requirements, product availability, service availability, event expiration dates, or other settings applied to the selected destination.
Button Text and Link Behavior
Some blocks include a BUTTON TEXT field with the Link Picker.
Open the settings for the button, image, Text Editor Block button, Site Link, navigation link, or other supported element you want to configure.
Locate the LINK TO setting. Its location depends on the type of content you are editing.
Click the LINK TO drop-down menu and select the type of destination you want visitors to open.
Additional fields will appear based on your selection. For example, selecting PAGE displays options for choosing a page and block, while selecting PHONE displays a field for entering a phone number.
Complete the additional fields for your selected destination.
You may need to enter information, such as a URL or email address, or select existing content from your PhotoBiz account. Review the Link Picker Options Explained section below for the requirements of each destination.
Click SAVE CHANGES to apply the link.
Preview or open the completed content and click the linked element to confirm that it opens the correct destination. If you added links to a Marketing Campaign, send yourself a test email and check every linked button and image before sending the campaign.
Website and Blog Post changes are applied after you save them. PhotoBiz does not use a separate publish button for website changes.
Select NONE when you do not want the element to open another destination.
If the element includes a BUTTON TEXT field and that field contains text, the button will remain visible. However, nothing will happen when a visitor clicks or taps it.
To remove the button completely, delete the text from BUTTON TEXT and click SAVE CHANGES.
Select EXTERNAL LINK when you want the linked element to open another website or an online resource outside your PhotoBiz website.
Enter the complete web address in the URL field, including https://. For example:
https://www.example.com
When a visitor clicks the linked element, the URL opens in a new browser window or tab.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct destination.
Select PAGE when you want the linked element to open a page on your PhotoBiz website.
Use CHOOSE A PAGE to select the destination page. You can link to a visible or hidden page.
Use CHOOSE A BLOCK to control where visitors land on the selected page. Select TOP OF THE PAGE to open the beginning of the page. Select a specific block to create an anchor link that moves visitors directly to that section.
Blocks appear under CHOOSE A BLOCK in the same order they appear on the selected page. If a block has been renamed, its custom name appears with the block type to help you identify it.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct page and section.
See How to Set Up Anchor Links for complete instructions.
Select FORM when you want the linked element to open a form created in your Forms Dashboard.
Under CHOOSE A FORM, first select the category containing the form. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual form.
The form must already exist before it can be selected. If you cannot find it, confirm that you selected the correct category.
When a visitor clicks the linked element, the selected form opens in a new browser window or tab.
This option opens the form separately from your website design. If you want the form to appear directly on a website page and use the page’s fonts, colors, and other design settings, add a Form Block instead.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct form.
See How to Use the Form Block for complete instructions.
Select MARKETING when you want the linked element to open a campaign created in your Marketing Dashboard.
Under CHOOSE A CAMPAIGN, first select the category containing the campaign. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual campaign.
The campaign must already exist before it can be selected. Linking to a campaign does not subscribe the visitor to your marketing emails or send the campaign to them.
When a visitor clicks the linked element, the selected campaign opens in a new browser window or tab.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct campaign.
If you have not created a campaign yet, see How to Create an Email Marketing Campaign
Select FILE when you want the linked element to download a document stored in your PhotoBiz account.
Use CHOOSE A FILE to select the document. This drop-down menu contains files uploaded under FILES → DOCUMENTS.
Documents stored elsewhere in your account will not appear under CHOOSE A FILE. When a visitor clicks the linked element, the selected file downloads to their device.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it downloads the correct file.
If you need to upload a document first, see How to Get a Direct File URL.
Select PHONE when you want the linked element to allow visitors to call your business.
Enter the complete telephone number in the PHONE NUMBER field, including the area code. Include the country code if you serve international customers.
On a compatible mobile device, tapping the link opens the visitor’s phone application with the number ready to call. The visitor must still confirm or start the call. On a computer, the browser may open a connected calling application.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link on a mobile device to confirm that the correct number appears.
Select EMAIL when you want the linked element to help visitors send an email to your business.
Enter the destination email address in the EMAIL ADDRESS field.
When a visitor clicks the link, the device will attempt to open its default email application with your email address entered as the recipient. The visitor must have an email application configured and must write and send the message.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens a new message addressed to the correct email address.
If you want visitors to complete specific fields or submit information through your website, use FORM instead.
Select ADDRESS when you want the linked element to open a location in Google Maps.
Enter the complete location in the ADDRESS field. Include the street address, city, state or region, and ZIP or postal code to help Google Maps identify the correct location.
Depending on the visitor’s device, the link may open the Google Maps application or Google Maps website.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the intended location. If Google Maps does not recognize the address correctly, use EXTERNAL LINK with the location’s direct Google Maps URL instead.
Select VIDEO when you want the linked element to open and play a video in a pop-out video player.
Use VIDEO TYPE to select EMBED CODE or MY VIDEOS.
Select EMBED CODE, then paste the complete video embed code into VIDEO EMBED CODE.
Use the embed code supplied by the video-hosting provider instead of the regular URL from your browser’s address bar. The video provider must allow the video to be embedded.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that the video opens and plays.
My Videos
Select MY VIDEOS, then use CHOOSE A VIDEO to select the video you want to link.
The CHOOSE A VIDEO drop-down menu contains videos uploaded under FILES → VIDEOS in your PhotoBiz account. Videos stored elsewhere will not appear in this list.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that the correct video opens and plays in the pop-out video player.
If you need to upload a video first, see How to Upload a Video to PhotoBiz.
Select POP-UPS when you want the linked element to display an existing website pop-up.
Under CHOOSE A POP-UP, first select the category containing the pop-up. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual pop-up.
The pop-up must already exist before it can be selected. This option displays the selected pop-up when the linked element is clicked instead of sending the visitor to another page.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link on desktop and mobile to confirm that the correct pop-up appears and can be closed easily.
If you have not created a pop-up yet, see How to Create a Pop-Up.
Select PRODUCT when you want the linked element to open a specific product created in your ECommerce Dashboard.
Under CHOOSE A PRODUCT, first select the category containing the product. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual product.
The product must already exist before it can be selected. Confirm that its description, images, price, options, and availability are correct before directing visitors to it.
When a visitor clicks the linked element, the selected product page opens.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct product.
Use PAGE instead if you want visitors to open a website page containing a Products Block and browse multiple products.
If you have not added a product yet, see How to Set Up Products.
Select SERVICE when you want the linked element to open a specific service created in your ECommerce Dashboard.
Under CHOOSE A SERVICE, first select the category containing the service. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual service.
The service must already exist before it can be selected. Confirm that its description, images, price, options, and availability are correct before directing visitors to it.
When a visitor clicks the linked element, the selected service page opens.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct service.
Use PAGE instead if you want visitors to open a website page containing a Services Block and browse multiple services.
If you have not added an ECommerce service yet, see How to Set Up Services.
Select SCHEDULER SERVICE when you want the linked element to open a specific bookable service created in your Scheduler Dashboard.
Under CHOOSE A SCHEDULER SERVICE, first select the category containing the service. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual Scheduler service.
The Scheduler service must already exist before it can be selected. Confirm that the service is active and that its description, price, availability, and booking settings are correct.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that visitors can open the correct service and begin the booking process.
Use PAGE instead if you want visitors to open a website page containing a Scheduler Block and browse multiple services.
If you have not created a Scheduler service yet, see How to Create a Scheduler Service.
These options connect to different areas of your PhotoBiz account:
Select CLIENT GALLERY when you want the linked element to open a specific event created in your Client Galleries Dashboard.
Under CHOOSE AN EVENT, first select the category containing the event. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual Client Gallery event.
The event must already exist before it can be selected. Linking to an event does not bypass its access settings. Visitors must still provide a password or email address when those requirements are enabled.
Before creating the link, confirm that the event is active and review its cover page, access settings, expiration date, and other event settings.
When a visitor clicks the linked element, the selected Client Gallery event opens in a new browser window or tab.
Click SAVE CHANGES, then test the link to confirm that it opens the correct event.
Use PAGE instead if you want visitors to open a website page containing a Client Galleries Block and browse multiple events.
If you have not created an event yet, see How to Create a Client Gallery Event.
The following destination types require you to make two selections:
First, select the category containing the content. Then use the second drop-down menu to select the individual form, campaign, pop-up, product, service, Scheduler service, or Client Gallery event.
If the destination you need does not appear, confirm that it has already been created and that you selected the correct category.
The content I want to select is not listed
Confirm that the destination has already been created or uploaded. If the destination is organized by category, confirm that you selected the correct category.
Documents must be uploaded under FILES → DOCUMENTS. Videos selected through MY VIDEOS must be uploaded under FILES → VIDEOS.
The link does not do anything
Open the element’s settings and confirm that LINK TO is not set to NONE.
If the element includes a BUTTON TEXT field, confirm that the field contains the text you want to display. A blank BUTTON TEXT field prevents the button from appearing.
Verify that all required destination information has been entered or selected, then click SAVE CHANGES.
The button appears, but nothing happens when I click it
Open the button settings and check LINK TO. If it is set to NONE, select a destination and complete the required fields.
If you do not want the button to appear, delete its BUTTON TEXT and click SAVE CHANGES.
The link opens the wrong destination
Return to the element’s settings and review the selected destination.
For destinations organized by category, confirm that you selected both the correct category and the correct individual item.
The link stopped working
The selected page, block, form, campaign, document, video, pop-up, product, service, Scheduler service, or Client Gallery event may have been deleted, disabled, expired, or otherwise made unavailable.
The destination may also be inactive, private, out of stock, or missing availability.
Select a new destination, click SAVE CHANGES, and test the link again.
The anchor link opens the page but not the correct section
Open the Link Picker and confirm that the correct page and block are selected.
If TOP OF THE PAGE is selected, the link will open the beginning of the page instead of moving to a specific block. If the original destination block was deleted, select another block and save the link again.
