How To Add The Text Editor Block

Adding text to your website can be done through the Text Editor Block. You can stylize your text to achieve your desired look.

How to Use the Text Editor Block in PhotoBiz

Overview

The Text Editor Block lets you add and customize written content on your PhotoBiz website. You can use it for page introductions, service information, headings, calls to action, pricing details, and other text-focused content.

You can start with a blank block or choose from predesigned Text Editor Blocks, then customize the layout, styling, colors, background, fonts, and button animation. You can also use Ask PhotoBiz AI to write new content or rewrite text you have already added.

This guide walks you through adding a Text Editor Block and explains the customization options available after it is added to your page.

What You Can Use a Text Editor Block For

The Text Editor Block is a good choice whenever written content is the main focus of a section on your website.

You can use a Text Editor Block for:

  • Page introductions and welcome messages
  • About or photographer bio content
  • Photography service descriptions
  • Session details and pricing information
  • Policies and instructions
  • Calls to action with a button
  • Headings and supporting text between other website blocks
  • Contact or booking information
  • Testimonials or short client quotes
  • SEO-focused page content
  • Content written or rewritten with Ask PhotoBiz AI

If you want text and an image to appear together as part of the same block, consider using a Text + Image Block instead.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Click the page where you want to add the Text Editor Block. The selected page will open in the Website Builder, and the available block types will appear in the toolbar on the right side of the screen.

STEP THREE

Locate the T EDITOR option in the block toolbar on the right side of the Website Builder.

Click T EDITOR once to automatically add a new Text Editor Block as the last block on the page. If you want to add it in a specific location, click and hold T EDITOR, drag it to the position you want on the page, and release it.

STEP FOUR

The SELECT EDITOR BLOCK panel will open on the right side of the Website Builder.

Choose Blank to start with an empty Text Editor Block, or choose one of the predesigned Editor options to start with an existing design. PhotoBiz includes predesigned options from Editor 1 through Editor 21.

Scroll through the available designs, then click SELECT on the option you want to use.

FINAL STEP

After you select a block design, the EDIT EDITOR panel will open on the right side of the Website Builder.

Enter your heading in the TITLE field and add your content in the TEXT editor. You can use the formatting toolbar to format your content, create links, add images, adjust alignment, create lists, and choose paragraph or heading styles. You can also switch between the VISUAL and HTML tabs to edit your content.

When you are finished, click SAVE CHANGES. Your updates are automatically applied to your website. There is no separate publish button.

Text Formatting Options

The TEXT editor includes formatting tools that let you customize the content inside your Text Editor Block.

Available tools include options for:

  • Bold, italic, and underline
  • Bulleted and numbered lists
  • Text alignment
  • Links
  • Images
  • Text formatting
  • Paragraph and heading styles

Use the VISUAL tab for standard text editing. The HTML tab allows you to view or edit the HTML used within the Text field.

Using Ask PhotoBiz AI

Ask PhotoBiz AI can write new content for your Text Editor Block or rewrite text you have already added.

If the Text Editor Block does not contain text yet, add a TITLE first and click Ask PhotoBiz AI. PhotoBiz AI will use your title, the context of the page, and the Business Profile information saved in the Branding section of your account to write new text for the block.

If your Text Editor Block already contains text, click Ask PhotoBiz AI to have PhotoBiz AI read your existing content and create a rewritten version. Your Business Profile information is also referenced when generating the updated text.

Each time you use Ask PhotoBiz AI to generate or rewrite content, it counts as 1 Ask PhotoBiz AI request toward the monthly total included with your account.

You can also provide your own custom instructions if you want PhotoBiz AI to make a specific type of change if you click on the paragraph below the Ask PhotoBiz AI button.

All PhotoBiz AI content is fully editable. Review the generated text, make any changes you need, and click SAVE CHANGES when you are finished.

Adding a Button

Click BUTTON in the Text Editor Block settings to add a button to the block.

Enter the text you want visitors to see on the button in the BUTTON TEXT field. For example, you could use button text such as Learn More, View Pricing, Book Now, or Contact Me.

Next, use the LINK TO menu to choose what happens when a visitor clicks the button.

Available options include:

  • None: Do not assign a link to the button.
  • External link: Link to a website or URL outside of your PhotoBiz website.
  • Page: Link to another page or block on your website.
  • Form: Link to a form in your PhotoBiz account.
  • Marketing: Link to available content in Marketing.
  • File: Link to a file stored in your account.
  • Phone: Create a click-to-call link.
  • Email: Open the visitor's default email application.
  • Address: Open an address in a map application.
  • Video: Link the button to video content.
  • Pop-Ups: Open one of your website pop-ups.
  • Product: Link directly to a product.
  • Service: Link directly to a service.
  • Scheduler Service: Link directly to a service available through Scheduler.
  • Client Gallery: Link to a Client Gallery.

After selecting the link type, complete any additional fields that appear for that option, then click SAVE CHANGES.

Changing the Text Editor Block Layout

After you add a Text Editor Block, click LAYOUT in the block settings to change how the content inside the block is arranged.

At the top of the panel, PhotoBiz displays the CURRENT LAYOUT. The available layouts appear below as visual previews, so you can compare how each one will position the title, text, button, and other design elements.

The Text Editor Block includes 12 layouts:

  • One Column
  • Two Column
  • Editorial Left
  • Editorial Top
  • Overlay One Column
  • Overlay Two Columns
  • Overlay Border
  • Contemporary Border
  • Contemporary Title
  • Contemporary Horizontal
  • Contemporary Center
  • Contemporary Vertical

Click SAVE on the layout you want to use. The selected layout will become the new CURRENT LAYOUT for that Text Editor Block.

Changing the layout does not change the Text Editor Block's purpose or turn it into a different block type. It changes how the existing content is arranged and may also change which options are available under STYLING, COLORS, and other design settings.

For step-by-step instructions, see How to Change the Text Editor Layout

Styling Options

Click STYLING to adjust the spacing and positioning of elements within your Text Editor Block. Available settings vary depending on the layout you are using.

Options may include:

  • Overlay Opacity: Adjust the transparency of the overlay when supported by the layout.
  • Text Wrap: Allow paragraph text to wrap beneath the title when supported.
  • Title Alignment: Align the title to the left, center, or right.
  • Button Alignment: Align the button to the left, center, or right.
  • Editor Left/Right Padding: Adjust the space along the sides of the block.
  • Space Below Blocks: Adjust the space between this block and the next block.
  • Space Inside Blocks: Adjust the space at the top and bottom inside the block.

Click SAVE CHANGES when finished.

Colors

Click COLORS to customize the colors used in your Text Editor Block.

The available color settings can vary depending on the layout and button style you are using. Options may include:

  • Title Color: Controls the color of the block title.
  • Text Color: Controls the color of the paragraph text.
  • Background Color: Controls the background color of the block.
  • Button Text Color: Controls the text displayed inside the button.
  • Button Border Color: Controls the button border.
  • Button Contrast Color: Controls the contrasting color used by supported button animations or styles.
  • Overlay Color: Controls the overlay color for layouts that use an overlay.
  • Line Color: Controls decorative lines used by supported layouts.

You can select a color or enter a specific hexadecimal color value.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your color settings.

Background

Click BACKGROUND to control the background image used in your Text Editor Block.

Under BACKGROUND IMAGE, choose one of these options:

  • No Background: Remove the background image from the block.
  • Custom Background: Upload your own background image.
  • Background Library: Select an image from the PhotoBiz Background Library.

For a Custom Background, PhotoBiz accepts JPG or PNG files. Background images can be up to 3000 pixels wide by 1730 pixels high.

After choosing an image, use BACKGROUND SETTINGS to control how it displays:

  • Tile: Repeat the image to fill the background.
  • Top Left: Align the image to the top-left of the block.
  • Centered: Position the image in the center of the available space.
  • Cover: Scale the image as large as needed to completely cover the background area.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your background settings.

Fonts

Click FONTS to customize the typography used in your Text Editor Block.

The Text Editor Block uses your website's global font settings by default. Changes made here override those global font settings for this individual block.

You can customize fonts for:

  • Title
  • Paragraph
  • Heading H1
  • Heading H2
  • Heading H3
  • Button Text

For each text type, you can adjust settings such as:

  • Font family
  • Size
  • Letter spacing
  • Line height

The font preview shows how your selected font and settings will appear before you save your changes.

Click SAVE CHANGES when you are finished.

For complete step-by-step instructions, see How to Change the Fonts on Text Editor Blocks

Button Hover Animation

Click ANIMATION to choose the hover effect used by the button in your Text Editor Block.

Available BUTTON HOVER ANIMATION options include:

  • None: Do not apply a hover animation.
  • Fill: Adds a fill effect when a visitor hovers over the button.
  • Overlay: Applies an overlay effect on hover.
  • Scale: Applies a scaling effect when the button is hovered over.
  • Arrows: Adds an arrow-style hover effect.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your selection.

Using DuoBuild with the Text Editor Block

The Text Editor Block supports DuoBuild, a built-in Website Builder feature that allows two supported blocks to appear next to each other in a two-column layout.

You do not need to activate DuoBuild. Drag the Text Editor Block next to another supported block. When the side-by-side placement indicator appears, release the block and the two blocks will automatically snap into place.

To return to a full-width layout, drag one of the blocks above or below the other.

DuoBuild changes the position of the blocks without changing their content or individual block settings.

Additional Options and Helpful Notes

When copying text from Microsoft Word, another website, or another formatted source, paste without formatting to help prevent unwanted fonts, colors, sizes, and spacing from carrying into your Text Editor Block.

  • Mac: Command + Shift + V
  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + V

Your Text Editor Block follows your website's global fonts and colors unless you override those settings within the individual block.

The Editor 1 through Editor 21 choices are predesigned starting blocks. They are separate from the 12 options available under LAYOUT after the block has been added.

Different layouts can provide different styling and color controls. Review the available settings after changing your layout to make sure the block appears the way you want.

Clicking SAVE CHANGES automatically applies your updates to the website. You do not need to publish the website separately.
