How to Fix Missing Sales Tax on Invoices

If sales tax isn’t appearing on your invoice in the PhotoBiz QUOTES & INVOICES tool, there are a few things to check to ensure it’s being calculated correctly. This guide will walk you through the steps to fix any missing sales tax on your invoices.

STEP ONE

Log into your PhotoBiz account and click on ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu.

Next, confirm that you’ve set up your Sales Tax line in your ECommerce settings. To do this:

  1. Click on ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu.

  2. Click on PAYMENTS at the top of the ECommerce control panel.

  3. Choose SALES TAX from the drop-down menu.

If you haven’t set this up yet, refer to our guide on How to Add a Sales Tax Line for help. Once set up, you should see your sales tax settings on the next screen.

STEP TWO

Click on Quotes & Invoices in the left-side menu.

STEP THREE

Click on Invoices at the top of the Quotes & Invoices control panel.

STEP FOUR

Create a new invoice or click on an existing invoice number that you want to add sales tax to.

STEP FIVE

Check Your Contact Details

If your sales tax is set up correctly and your items are marked as taxable or non-taxable, the last thing to check is the contact you’re sending the invoice to. Sales tax is calculated based on the contact’s billing and shipping information. Here are the common reasons why sales tax might not be appearing:

  1. Missing State or Country Information:
If the selected contact does not have a state or country listed in their billing or shipping information, sales tax will not be calculated or displayed.

  2. County Information Missing (if applicable):
If your sales tax is set up per county, and the contact’s information doesn’t include a county, sales tax will also be missing.

SOLUTION:

To fix this, go to the contact’s details and ensure the following fields are filled in:

  • Country
  • State
  • (If required) County

Once these fields are completed, sales tax will be properly calculated and displayed on the invoice.

💡 Pro Tip

The Sales Tax section in your ECommerce control panel will also generate tax reports for you, making it easier to keep track of your sales tax.
