When you publish a blog post on your PhotoBiz website, you might see it appear under different page URLs—especially if you're using blog blocks to display posts across your site. This guide explains which version is the canonical one (the “main” one search engines will index) and why that’s important for your SEO.
A canonical tag is a small piece of code that tells search engines which version of a page should be shown in search results when there are multiple versions of the same content.
They help:
When you create a blog post in PhotoBiz, the system automatically sets the correct canonical URL so that search engines know which version to index.
You can see this when you click the Preview link in the upper-left corner of your blog post editor. The preview opens the canonical version of your blog post, and it will look something like this:
https://www.yourdomain.com/blog-post/blog-title
This is the version that Google and other search engines will prioritize and include in search results.
If you’ve added a Blog Block to a page on your site (like a custom blog landing page at yourdomain.com/blog), you may notice the blog post URL looks slightly different when viewed from there. For example:
https://www.yourdomain.com/pagename/blog/blog-title
This is called an alternate URL. It’s not the one that search engines will index—because the canonical tag tells them to focus on the primary version instead.
In tools like Google Search Console, you might see a notice that says:
“Alternate Page with Proper Canonical Tag.”
This just means Google has found two versions of the page and is indexing the one that’s been marked as canonical. It’s completely normal—and not a bad thing!
There’s no negative impact on your SEO, and no action is needed on your part.
When submitting your Sitemap to Google Search Console, make sure to submit your Blog RSS feed as well to ensure the proper version of your blogs are getting indexed.
