Overview
Connecting Stripe allows you to securely accept eligible credit and debit card payments through your PhotoBiz account. Once Stripe is connected, configured, and active, you can use it to collect payments through Client Galleries, Scheduler bookings, invoices, forms, and Online Store orders.
This guide walks you through connecting a new or existing Stripe account from the PhotoBiz ECommerce Dashboard. You will also learn how to activate your Stripe merchant, customize the payment option your customers see, understand Stripe processing fees, handle refunds, and access your PhotoBiz PCI compliance report.
Your PhotoBiz account must be connected to a supported payment processor before you can accept online card payments.
Stripe handles payment processing, account verification, bank account information, processing fees, and payouts. PhotoBiz provides the connection that allows eligible transactions from your PhotoBiz account to be submitted to Stripe for processing.
Once your Stripe merchant is active, Stripe can be used to accept eligible card payments across supported PhotoBiz tools where online payment is enabled.
After Stripe is connected and active, it can be used for eligible payments through:
Client Galleries
Scheduler
Invoices
Forms
Online Store orders
The checkout experience may vary depending on which PhotoBiz tool your customer is using.
Connecting Stripe gives PhotoBiz the permissions required to process eligible transactions submitted through your PhotoBiz account and associate those transactions with the appropriate PhotoBiz order or payment.
PhotoBiz may use the Stripe connection to process payments, display qualifying transaction information, and associate PhotoBiz sales with the corresponding Stripe transaction.
PhotoBiz does not receive your Stripe password, bank login credentials, or full customer credit card numbers.
Your Stripe account remains managed through Stripe. You can review your Stripe account information, payout details, verification requirements, and connected services directly from your Stripe dashboard.
Stripe may display standardized authorization language when you connect your account to a third-party platform. Review the information shown by Stripe before authorizing the connection.
For more information, review Stripe’s article about security permissions and access levels when connecting a Stripe account to a third-party platform.
PhotoBiz provides the connection between your PhotoBiz account and Stripe, but PhotoBiz does not manage your Stripe account.
Contact Stripe directly for questions about:
Transaction fees and processing rates
Payout timing
Bank account setup
Account verification
Payout holds
Stripe account restrictions
Required business or tax information
Stripe requirements related to surcharges or payment-related fees
You can contact Stripe Support after signing in to your Stripe account.
Stripe determines the transaction fees and processing rates associated with your Stripe account. PhotoBiz does not set, collect, adjust, or have access to the specific processing rates Stripe applies to your account.
Your Stripe rates may depend on your Stripe account, transaction type, payment method, currency, location, or other Stripe-specific factors.
For questions about transaction fees, processing rates, pricing, or charges deducted from a payment, sign in to your Stripe account and contact Stripe Support directly.
PhotoBiz does not provide a setting that automatically adds a credit card processing fee, convenience fee, surcharge, or other percentage-based transaction fee to a customer's order when they pay with Stripe.
If you are considering adjusting your pricing or adding another charge to offset payment processing costs, you are responsible for making sure your pricing and checkout practices comply with applicable laws, card network requirements, and Stripe policies.
Rules for credit card surcharges and similar fees can vary by location and payment method. PhotoBiz cannot provide legal advice or determine whether a particular fee is permitted for your business. Review the laws that apply to your business and customers, and contact Stripe with questions about Stripe's requirements.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu.
The ECommerce Dashboard opens, where you can manage orders, products, payments, merchants, and other ECommerce settings.
Hover over PAYMENT at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard and select MERCHANTS from the dropdown menu.
The Merchants section displays the payment processors connected to your PhotoBiz account.
Click NEW MERCHANT.
Stripe will appear as an available merchant option. Click CONNECT TO STRIPE to begin the secure connection process.
A Stripe window will open so you can sign in to an existing Stripe account or create a new Stripe account.
Sign in to your existing Stripe account, or follow Stripe’s prompts to create a new account.
Review the account information and permissions shown by Stripe. Follow the remaining prompts and click Authorize access to this account when prompted.
Stripe may ask you to provide or confirm business, identity, bank account, tax, or contact information before your account can be fully activated.
After authorization is complete, you will see a Connection Successful message confirming that your Stripe account is ready to connect with PhotoBiz. Click OK to return to your PhotoBiz control panel.
Return to your PhotoBiz account and click CONFIGURE NEW STRIPE ACCOUNT.
The Stripe merchant settings will display information about the connection, including the merchant type, the date it was created, and the email address associated with the connected Stripe account.
Set Active to Yes. This setting must be enabled before Stripe will appear as a payment method during checkout.
Review and customize the remaining settings:
Payment Name: Enter the name customers will see as an available payment method during checkout. Credit Card is the default payment name.
Special Instructions: Add an optional message that will appear during checkout when the customer selects this payment method.
Thank You Message: Enter the message customers will see on the confirmation page after their payment is successfully processed through Stripe.
Click Save Changes to apply your Stripe merchant settings to your checkout screens.
Once Active is set to Yes and your changes are saved, customers can use Stripe to submit eligible credit or debit card payments through your PhotoBiz account.
If Stripe requires additional account verification, complete the requested steps directly inside your Stripe dashboard before attempting to process payments or receive payouts.
The checkout screen a customer sees depends on where they are submitting payment. The examples below show the three Stripe checkout experiences available through PhotoBiz.
Stripe refunds must be processed directly through your Stripe account. You cannot issue a Stripe refund from the PhotoBiz dashboard.
To issue a refund, sign in to Stripe, locate the original payment, and follow Stripe's refund process.
Stripe determines how the refund is processed and how quickly funds are returned to the customer's original payment method. Contact Stripe if you have questions about a refund, its status, or any associated processing fees.
PhotoBiz provides access to a PCI compliance report from your Stripe merchant settings.
If a payment provider, bank, organization, or institution requests documentation related to the PhotoBiz platform's PCI compliance, open your Stripe merchant settings and click the available PCI compliance report link.
You can download or print the report as needed.
Questions about your individual Stripe account, your own PCI responsibilities, or Stripe's compliance requirements should be directed to Stripe.
Stripe Does Not Display as Active
Confirm that you completed the entire Stripe authorization process. Signing in to Stripe without completing the final authorization step will not finish the connection.
Return to PAYMENT → MERCHANTS and attempt the connection again. Make sure you complete all Stripe prompts and click AUTHORIZE ACCESS TO THIS ACCOUNT when prompted.
You should also sign in to Stripe and check for incomplete verification requirements or account alerts.
Stripe Is Connected but Does Not Appear at Checkout
Open your Stripe merchant settings and confirm that ACTIVE is set to YES.
Click SAVE CHANGES after updating the setting.
Stripe will not appear as an available payment option while the merchant is inactive. Also confirm that online payment is enabled for the PhotoBiz tool or transaction you are testing.
Stripe Is Active but Payments Are Not Processing
Sign in to Stripe and check for account restrictions, verification requests, required business information, or other account alerts.
Confirm that your Stripe account is enabled to accept payments and that the customer's payment method is supported.
A transaction may also be declined by the customer's card issuer. Review the Stripe transaction record for any available decline information.
Funds Are Not Reaching Your Bank Account
Confirm that your bank account is connected and verified inside Stripe.
Stripe controls payout schedules, payout eligibility, processing periods, and account holds. If a payment appears in Stripe but has not been deposited into your bank account, contact Stripe Support.
The Stripe Window Does Not Open
Your browser may be blocking the Stripe connection window.
Allow pop-ups for PhotoBiz and click CONNECT TO STRIPE again.
You can also try a current version of another supported browser.
Stripe manages your Stripe account, processing rates, verification requirements, payouts, and transaction-level account issues. PhotoBiz Support can help you locate the merchant settings in your PhotoBiz account and confirm how Stripe is connected to PhotoBiz.
If you change pricing to account for your business expenses, remember that PhotoBiz does not automatically calculate or add a Stripe transaction fee to customer orders.
